I recently completed an MSc
to Distinction level at Birkbeck
in Conflict Resolution and Mediation. This is a culmination of over ten years
experience in community development. Amongst more
radical approaches to conflict, I explored how discoveries in
neuroscience can improve the qualities of a mediator. My
work is now based on thinking emerging from systems theory and
quantum mechanics and integrating it with my hands-on experience of community conflicts
here, around the world.
My initiation into conflict resolution began in Australia in the 1990s when I used these skills as a young activist in a variety of campaigns with groups such as Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund. During this time, I
also completed a BA in Creative Arts - majoring in Acting and minoring
in Law. It was during this time that I was introduced to mediation
as well as the rewards of theatre training.

Directly, I have worked as a
mediator in community and workplace disputes, as well as
relationship mediation. My forte is training others to
discover the skills and insights they need to work with conflict
and I have done this in a variety of settings. I particularly enjoy working
with the diverse experiences of my clients and the learning that goes with it. I also love opportunities to facilitate groups in order to
discover our own resources and enhance our awareness around complex issues.
Less formally, I have been involved in education and theatre
projects with Indigenous groups around the world from India and Nepal,
to Israel and Canada. In London, I spent three years touring with theatreactive. Now, as a member of C
Company and a teacher, I am continually reminded of the value
of drama and acting skills as a way to help people make the most
of their life.
My work is grounded in
reflective practice and I am always seeking new ways to develop the
qualities that support my work. I
continue to receive supervision and training with RSPOPUK,
with whom I have done 2 years facilitation training. The
focus of most of my work now is to strengthen London communities as a step toward
peace-building globally. I am currently a member of Amnesty International and the RSA.
I look forward to hearing from you. |
